• Stalking

    There are centuries of history and tradition behind deer stalking in Scotland, and it’s an excellent way to get to know the native wildlife.

    Roe, fallow and red deer stalking is available at any time of year at Persie. The Estate is varied and rugged in places which provides for exciting stalking outings.

  • Salmon and trout fishing

    Salmon fishing in Scotland is a world famous pastime and Persie offers facilities for fishermen of all experiences.

    The Blackwater (which runs along the eastern boundary of the estate) offers fantastically productive and picturesque fishing. Fishing prices for the day depend on the number of rods and the time of year. All equipment is available for hire and gillies can be provided through the Estate.

    Alternatively you may wish to spend an hour or two in the boat on Persie Loch fishing for wild brown trout. Life jackets are available.

  • Landmarks

    Braemar (25 miles), Balmoral Castle (35 miles), Blair Castle (25 miles), Scone Palace (23 miles), Glamis Castle (22 miles) are all in range for a day trip.

    Take a trip up Royal Deeside to Ballater and Crathie Kirk. Braemar (35 mins) is home to the famous Fife Arms. Combine a trip to Pitlochry with a visit to The House of Bruar (29 miles), one of the nations most famous shops, selling luxury clothes, food, gifts and souvenirs and known as 'Harrods of the North'.

    Whilst Scotland may be best known for its whisky distilleries, you'll find a warm welcome at the local Persie Gin Distillery, which is just at the bottom of the drive. Amongst many other local whiskey distilleries, Edradour (18 miles), the smallest distillery in Scotland is also open for tours and sampling.

  • Wildlife

    Persie enjoys a huge variety of wildlife around the estate; three species of deer, ospreys on the loch, otters on the river, red squirrels in the garden and blackcock on the hill. Hen harriers are often spotted quartering the moor. Even the mighty eagle passes over occasionally.

  • Hiking

    There are a dozen “munros” locally, and many more within easy striking distance. There is a wide variety of local walks catering for all abilities. The Cairngorms National Park is home to five of the six highest mountains in Scotland and begins just a few miles north of Persie.

  • Skiing

    During the winter months, there is extensive skiing available within a 15-minute drive at Glenshee Ski Centre, the largest ski resort in Scotland.

    Skis, snowboards and other equipment can be hired in Bridge of Cally, or at the ski centres.

  • Golf

    Golfers will know that this part of Scotland is blessed with exceptional offerings; championship courses and links courses all within 25 minutes drive. Blairgowrie Golf Club is home to 45 holes of golf and one of the best clubhouses in the country – its Rosemount course is one of the best inland courses in Scotland. Otherwise we suggest, Alyth, Strathmore and Pitlochry. Furthermore, the highest course in the British Isles (Dalmunzie) is just along the Glen.

  • Tennis

    The House gardens contain a hard tennis court which is available for guests’ use as they please.

    There are a few house house rackets and balls available to borrow but we do encourage you to bring your own.

  • Clay pigeon shooting

    The Estate offers staff, facilities and equipment for clay pigeon shooting and rifle target practice.

    Costs vary depending on the guests’ requirements but please enquire in advance if you are interested.

    Alternatively, there is a first-class clay shooting facility at Auchterhouse just 30 mins drive away.

  • Weddings

    Persie House provides a unique venue for your wedding day! Local specialists supply marquees, catering equipment and staff for wedding parties up to 100 strong. Local hotels and B&B’s cater for overflow accommodation. Taxis and coaches can be arranged as required. House piper(s) can play you into your reception and after the ceremony. Wedding and functions may attract an additional facility fee.
